  • Overview

The IMAGE MAKER CONTRAST CONTROL Kit is a 4" x 4" filter kit that is Ideal for controlling contrast in bright sunlit exteriors, while capturing lost detail in shadow areas.

This filter also creates a very slight flare or halation around hot spots and individual light sources. This feature is a useful effect. The more light there is for the filter to work with, the greater the effect. This filter is very popular with people who shoot video but who want to achieve more of a film look to their images.
    Soft Contrast Filter

Results in a reduction in contrast

    • This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, will cause a slight amount of flaring or halation.
    • The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral gray appearance, which drops the exposure.
    • Although it may seem to require it, Tiffen does not recommend any exposure compensation since this will negate the effect of the filter.

    Ultra Contrast Filter

    • Bright lights or sunlight create problems when the ratio between the highlight and shadow areas is beyond the latitude of the film; if you expose for the highlights, the shadows appear without detail; if you expose for the shadows, the result is washed-out, overly bright highlights.
    • Contrast reduction is achieved by lightening shadows without overexposing highlights or by darkening highlights without darkening shadows further.
    • Even direct shooting into the sun produces no flare or halation.

    Low Contrast Filter

    • This filter also creates a very slight flare or halation around hot spots and individual light sources - this feature is a useful effect - such as with a candle.
    • The more light there is for the filter to work with, the greater the effect.
    • This filter is very popular with people who shoot video but who want to achieve more of a film look to their image.
