The trilogy book set and DVD, Storaro: Writing With Light, is the project of a lifetime: an encyclopedia by a single man — a visionary, a researcher and a scholar — about the mystery of vision. Each book explores Storaro's films and philosophies through a collection of writings, inspirational paintings, Storaro's own color photographs and black and white production stills documenting his work.
VOLUME 1: The first book (or chapter) entitled In Journey With Light is based on the theme of light, exploring the relationships among shade, penumbra, light, point form light, multiform light, artificial light, natural light, moon, sun and infinity, covering Storaro’s first 20 films from Giovinezza Giovinezza through Apocalypse Now.
VOLUME 2: The second book, Chromatic Emotion is based on the theme of colors, the relationships among black, red, orange, yellow, gray, green, blue, indigo, violet and white, covering ten films from Agatha through The Last Emperor.
VOLUME 3: The third book, The Equilibrium of Elements considers the natural elements of life, earth, water, fire, air, feminine, masculine, unconscious, conscious, matter, energy and overconscious, covering ten films from Tucker through Rome: Imago Urbis.
Each volume contains over 400 pages, including color paintings, hundreds of Storaro's color photographs from the various films, and black and white production stills that document his work on the sets of his various films.
The set is personally signed by Storaro and also includes a DVD on the creative journey of the author, touching on around 40 films, and extending the collection of images, studies, and research that make up Storaro's collected work.
Each volume is bilingual in Italian and English and is printed with the highest quality and care, measuring approximately 12" x 12" inches.
