Canon Production Accessory Bundle Plus for C700 Camera

The Canon Production Accessory Bundle Plus for C700 Camera features a new design that meets the demands of today’s productions – from feature films to documentaries to episodic dramas. The Canon Production Accessory Bundle Plus for C700 Camera features a Super 35mm 4.5K sensor camera with wide dynamic range. It should be ideal for productions requiring 4K UHD TV or 4K DCI cinema deliverables. In addition to supporting the earlier XF-AVC recording format, the cameras also support Apple ProRes.

Canon recognized its customers demand flexibility and the ability to respond to the changing needs of productions. The EOS C700 allows users to convert between EF mount (included) and PL mount (not included), and also between a standard CMOS image sensor (included) and a global shutter CMOS image sensor (not included) at Canon service facilities.

The EF lens mount provides compatibility with Canon’s diverse lineup of over 70 interchangeable EF lenses as well as enabling use of Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. The EOS C700 has a significantly upgraded power management system to help facilitate connecting with various third party accessories.

The Canon Production Accessory Bundle Plus for C700 Camera comes standard with a V-mount plate to accept common professional battery systems. External power supplies of +10 - 34 VDC plug into the camera via an industry-standard 4-pin XLR Style power connector. Camera accessories can be powered via a 24V DC 3-pin and a 12V DC 2-pin connector located on the front of the camera to help with cable management. The camera also records Apple ProRes to CFast media. This is the first time a Canon Cinema EOS camera records ProRes internally which can help reduce the time and cost of transcoding video files for productions using ProRes as an intermediate and delivery format. Both sides of the camera can have redundant main displays with menus and controls. A built in control panel on the camera operator side allows quick access to the camera controls.

Canon's optional new Remote Operation Unit OU-700 attaches to the camera's right side and mimics all the functions of the built-in Main Display. It conveniently flips up for access to the CFast and SD card slots. This allows for camera operation from both sides of the camera making camera adjustment easy for both operator and assistant.

To complement these powerful new acquisition tools, Canon has turned to its trusted partner Codex to provide a fully-integrated (no cables) recording and workflow option. The combination of the EOS C700 camera with the optional Codex CDX-36150 recorder allows for high-speed 4.5K RAW recording at up to 100FPS, 4K RAW at up to 120FPS, 4K ProRes at up to 60FPS, 2K ProRes at up to 240FPS and XF-AVC at up to 60FPS.

The Codex CDX-36150 RAW Recorder is attached to the EOS C700 by removing the battery plate at the rear of the EOS C700 and replacing it with the recorder. This modularity of the EOS C700 allows the recorder to be connected securely without wires. It behaves like an integrated part rather than an external accessory. The rear of the Codex recorder has a battery plate with onboard Gold Mount battery connector. External power (10-32 VDC) can also be supplied to the 2-pin connector on the recorder body. Codex CDX-36150 is an integrated system when attached to the EOS C700. The Codex Recorder allows recording not only 4K RAW, but also ProRes at significantly higher frame rates than internal CFast Cards.

When recording RAW files, they are saved as an .RMF frame sequence in an uncompressed format. Clip development can then be easily adjusted in post using Canon Raw Development (CRD) software. The CDX-36150 uses one Codex Capture Drive 2.0 (1 TB or 2 TB capacity), a familiar and commonly available professional recording media.

• Canon’s new EOS C700 is the first Cinema EOS cameras to support anamorphic shooting by utilizing a de-squeeze function for monitoring. You can now create images with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio typical of cinema productions.

• The EOS C700 supports Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3 Gamma. In post production, Canon Log is designed to reproduce the entire tonal range of the CMOS image sensor. Log workflow provides you with higher dynamic range, more highlight and shadow retention, and more flexibility in grading.

• The EOS C700 Digital Cinema Camera features next generation Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF) Technology for EF Mount cameras. Each pixel in the camera's CMOS sensor is configured with two photodiodes. Two independent image signals can then be detected at each photosite. By implementing phase-difference AF, smooth focusing is accomplished using Canon EF lenses with much higher speed and accuracy than was possible with previous technologies.

• IP Streaming enables users to send their video online, in real time, as they shoot. It works with compatible IP decoders, IP streaming software and other devices for live streaming to video websites, news shows, video productions, post production facilities, editing rooms and broadcast stations.
