Leather Holster for Spectra Cine IV-A Light Meter
These custom leather light meter cases are handmade by a local craftsman using traditional methods akin to saddle or boot making, each one taking many hours to complete. The molds for these cases are made the old fashion way out of wood, carved to look like each side of a specific model of meter. The process begins with 2 pieces of leather being cut from stiff, 5mm hide which is turned and softened by hand after coming out of a water and solvent solution. The craftsman fits the pieces over front and back molds using 4-6 c-clamps and lots of muscle. After setting for about 1-2 hours, the leather is then taken off the molds with care and dried for 12-24 hours before being dyed and polished. The 2 halves are eventually bonded together with adhesive and then dried for another 4-5 hours. The edges are ground down to a smooth finish, hand-sewn together, and then any finishing touches are added, such as a belt loop and/or closure flap. Each case is fit-tested before being hand delivered to our store by the craftsman himself. When you purchase one of these custom leather holsters, you're not just getting rugged protection for your light meter... you're getting quality and tradition.
