Schneider Optics 6.6x6.6 85 Neutral Density Filter 1.2 is a combination filter. ND filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance. The 85 color conversion filter is used to correct differences in color temperature between the recording medium (film/video) and the light source.
The Schneider Optics 6.6x6.6 85 Neutral Density Filter 1.2 is a combination neutral density and 85 color conversion filter. Converts tungsten based film to daylight balanced. (3200K to 5600K) and adds Neutral density.
The 85 portion of the filter reduces light transmission by 1/3 stop.
Neutral Density .3 reduces light by a full stop, N.6 reduces light by two stops, N.9 reduces light by three stops, and N1.2 reduces by four stops.
Therefore, the total light reduction for the 85N.3 filter is 1&1/3 stop, the 85N.6 looses 2&1/3 stops, the 85N.9 looses 3&1/3 stops, and the 85N1.2 looses 4&1/3 stops.
