Mono and Stereo

Equipped for both stereo and mono recording, the switchable SMX-30 covers both needs. The stereo microphone captures natural sounding audio with 2 cardioid polar pattern microphones spaced apart at a 120º angle . The mono microphone uses a super-cardioid polar pattern in a unidirectional way with the same high-quality Azden’s SGM-250 shotgun microphone element perfect for recording broadcast quality sound.

Frequency Response

Offering a range from 40Hz to 20kHz, the SM-30 delivers a wide frequency response capable of capturing full and natural sound. Utilize the low-cut filter switch is to reduce the level of low frequencies below 120Hz useful for mitigating ambient noise such as high wind and traffic. 

Gain Control

The SMX-30 boasts  a +20dB gain booster to capture a strong, clean audio signal into your camera without preamp distortion that may occur. A -10dB pad can also be used to protect against distortion when recording in loud and noisy environments.

Integrated Shock Absorbing Shoe Mount

The custom made, shock absorbing shoe mount is used to isolate the microphone from camera motor and handling noise. Integrated within the design of the SMX-30, the mount is designed to fit the standard camera shoe and comes with a ¼”-20 thread at the bottom. The thread is perfect for mounting onto other camera accessories or boom poles.

Power

The SMX-30 operates on two AA batteries which lasts up to 24 hours of smooth operation. The sound quality remains the same throughout the day and an LED indicator notifies you when the battery may be low. The unique "Auto" power setting can detect when the camera is on or off and will react accordingly.
