FujiFilm's universal LTO cleaning cartrdiges provide up to 50 cleanings. Ultrium universal cleaning cartridge enables end users to purchase and use only a single cleaning cartridge for all their tape drives, regardless of the manufacturer, rather than spending the additional time and money involved in supporting several different cleaning cartridges. These Fuji cleaning cartridges can be used on all LTO drives, regardless of manufacturer.
LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridges are equipped with a computer memory chip (just like the data tape). The chip stores various information and it has an embedded code that is recognized by the compatible drive's firmware. Once the cleaning cartridge is used to capacity (15 - 50 uses, drive dependent), the drive will no longer accept the cleaning tape and will eject the tape, prohibiting further use.
